All things bookish!

It’s been a difficult few weeks since I participated in these memes.  I wasn’t terribly well and then my father succumbed to a heart attack on his wedding anniversary.  A fine time was had by all.  The good news is that his Cardiologist is hopeful of fixing him with a procedure which is scheduled for Thursday 2nd June.  Other good news is that I’ve got a fair bit of reading done – it’s the only thing that really helps when I’m over-stressed.  And I’ve managed to slow my acquisitions.  I’ve not added up the points for my book diet yet but I’m thinking I must be owed some rewardage as I’m sure I’ve read more books than I’ve gained.  If only eating right and exercising were as much fun as a book diet!  Now those are words I bet you never thought you’d hear!

Updates to my blogs may continue to be patchy for a few weeks until life settles back into its usual rhythms and my adrenaline level subsides but at least that means you’ll have a bumper update sometime in the future …   Here’s this week’s summary.  Don’t forget to tell me what you’re reading this week.

  1. Sorry to hear about your father.

This coming week is my last week off before summer session. I have a few books I want to finish before school begins. Come see what they are.

  2. Oh, I hope things are better from here on out.

I’ve heard The Girl with the Pearl Earring is great. Enjoy!

  3. These books look good! And I hope that your stress alleviates and your father improves.

The Good Mother by Sue Miller is a book I’ve read and reread…loved the movie, too.

    Thanks for sharing.

    Here’s MY MONDAY MEMES POST

  4. Wishing your dad all the best on June 2.

  5. I’m sorry to hear that you have had such a stressful time lately. I do like your idea of a book diet and am strongly considering placing myself on one. I need to do something to gain control over my TBR stack. My Monday Report is here. Have a great week!

  6. So sorry to hear about your dad – hoping that all goes well.

Have a super reading week, I think I would do better on a regular diet than a book diet… I have a hard time saying “no” 🙂

  7. I am sorry to hear about your father.

I read Girl with a Pearl Earring and I really enjoyed it! I will have to add Blackberry Summer to my list, even the title sounds happy.
